Flute
Generic term, a flute is a Musical instrument with wind whose its is created by the Vibration of a breath the air being split on a Biseau right, in notch or ring. This breath can be directed by a conduit or the lips of the instrumentalist or come from a mechanical blower (see " Flute: organ stop "). Generally of tubular form but sometimes globular, in Graminaceous, Wood, Os or horn, but also in stone, Terra cotta, plastic, Metal (Gold, Money…), in Ivory and even in Crystal, the flute can be made of one or several pipes, with or without holes, or even a slide!
Of very remote origin, as of the Prehistory, it is found everywhere in the world under all kinds of forms.
Some, at the time baroque, are transfered added a system of key making it possible to block the holes. This invention, of which it is impossible to trace the origin, was in particular developed by Theobald Boehm at the 19th century.
