Flowmeter for vortex purpose
The principle of operation of a flowmeter for purpose vortex is based on the phenomenon of generation of Tourbillon (physical) S, called effect Karman. When a Fluide meets a bluff body, it divides and generates small swirls or alternated vortices, on both sides and downstream from the bluff body. These swirls generate zones of variable Pression, detected by a sensor. The frequency of generation of the swirls is directly proportional to the speed of the fluid.
The exit of a flowmeter for vortex purpose depends on the factor K. the factor K is related to the frequency of generation of the swirls compared to the speed of the fluid. The factor K varies according to the Reynolds number, but is practically constant on a vast beach of flow (Figure 15). The flowmeters for vortex purpose measure extremely precise flows if one uses them on this linear beach.
