Florent IV of Holland
Florent IV of Holland , born with $the Hague the June 24th 1210, died with Corbie the July 19th 1234, was count de Hollande of 1222 with 1234. It was wire of Guillaume Ier, count de Hollande, and of Adelaide de Gueldre.
It succeeded his father at age the twelve years and regency was ensured by Baudouin de Bentheim. It acquired the ground of Altena. It was in permanent conflict with Otton de Lippe, bishop of Utrecht, but at the time of the revolt of the peasants of Drenthe in 1227 helped it.
He was a true warrior, and combatit in 1234 Stedingers in the north of Bremen. He was accidentally killed during a tournament in France, at the time of a tournament against Philippe Hurepel de France, count de Clermont.
Marriage and child
He married Mathilde of the Brabant (1200 † 1267), girl of Henri Ier, duke of the Brabant, and Mathilde of Boulogne and Alsace. They had:- Adelaide (1225 † 1284), regent of Holland of 1258 to 1263 in succession of his/her Florent brother. She had married in 1246 Jean d' Avesnes (1218 † 1257), count heir to Hainaut
- Guillaume II (1227 † 1256), count de Hollande, then king of the Romans
- Florent († 1258), which was regent of Holland of 1248 to 1258, during the minority of its nephew Florent V
- Marguerite († 1277), married about 1249 in Hermann Ier († 1290), count d' Henneberg
