Florent (? - † on June 29th 1266) was canon of Laon, bishop of Midsummer's Day d' Acre (April 1257 - November 1262), and archbishop of Arles (November 28th, 1262 - † June 29th, 1266).
Biography
Canon of Laon, Florent is postulated by the chapter of Midsummer's Day d' Acre for évêché. He becomes bishop of Midsummer's Day in April 1257, then archbishop of Arles on November 28th 1262. He profits from the support of the pope Urbain IV, born Jacques Pantaléon, former archdeacon of Laon and Patriarche of Jerusalem. He organizes and chairs a council Arles, probably in 1263, which condemns the doctrines of the Evangile eternal (Joachim de Flore). The judgment of Aristote is pointed out there.
Like the other provençaux prelates, he is requested by the popes Urbain IV then Clément IV, in 1264 and 1265, for helps bound for the Royaume of Sicily held then by the counts de Provence.
One agrees that his death occurs on June 29th 1266, little time after Florent received the homages of Bertrand of the Beams to Salon (June 7th, 1266).
