Fleury-les-Aubrais is a commune of the area Center, in the Département of Loiret.

Geography

This commune is located at the north of Orleans and belonged to the community of commune of Orleans ( agglO ). It is in western edge of the Forêt of Orleans. The inhabitants are called the fleuryssois (be) .

The city is also the northern terminus of the line has Tramway of Orleans.

Fleury is a city, which sees its number of inhabitants being stabilized since 1990.

Administration

History

Some monks, resulting from the Benedictine abbey of Fleury (the Saint-Benoit-on-Loire), settled in the north of Orleans by creating a vault Fleury . Rural and market-gardening village, it was called previously Fleury-the-Cabbages .

The current town hall is built in 1928.

Important a railway station was inaugurated on May 2nd 1843 with the localities Aubrais , constituting a pole of attractivity for all the city. In 1870, the city is the territory of important combat opposing French to the Prussians on the place of the current district of the Aydes .

The legend wants that a remark mocker on the patronym of the city, made by Alphonse XIII, king d' Espagne, in transit at the station the May 30th 1905, caused the name change which was endorsed in 1907.

During the Second world war, the station is destroyed during bombardments combined in 1944 which also touches the adjacent district. The city is released on August 18th of this same year.

The current station goes back to 1961. The opening of the Tram of Orleans, passing by Fleury, takes place in 2000. The arts center the Footbridge is inaugurated in 2006.

Famous characters

  • Marie-Therese Louise of Savoy-Carignan, woman of back-back the small son of Louis XIV and the marchioness of Montespan and princess of Lamballe, had there a field, of which there does not remain any more any construction. It gave its name ( Parc Princess De Lamballe ) to a park where is built the Arts center of the city ( the Footbridge ) and the music school Maurice Ravel, like with a street and a district of the commune.
  • Georges Daumezon (1912 - 1979), psychiatrist, directed the psychiatric hospital of Fleury between 1938 and 1951. Its name is coupled with this last since 1998.

  • the team of Rugby of the city, the CJF RUGBY is as a vice champion honor for the season 2006-2007. Its school of Rugby is the first of the committee of center to receive the label " FFR".
