History
The site of Fleurey is occupied by the man since the Neolithic , as attest it potteries found in shelters under rocks of the lanes of Hedge mustards , as well as an ancient hearth in the caves of Morceuil . Tumulus of the first age of iron (excavated by Mr. Jobard about 1902-1903) spread out these lanes parallel to, since the rocks in front of the allotment of the Coquelot until proximity of the bridge of the viaduct of the combe of End . At the locality Bas of the Petrel were then put at the day various objects of bronze, iron, flint, glass and the potteries. In the south, others tumulus (with the plane of Suzâne and the plane of Suzard ) seem to attest zones of habitat in the south-west of the Colombière (close to the old collecting for the first water conveyance) like near the source of the farm of Collonges . One can still note the presence of low walls nowadays besides (vestiges of 2 enclosures joined, on the edge of the plate, above Collonges ).At the time Celtic, the part of current Fleurey in the north of Ouche concerned the Gallic tribe the Lingons (capital Langres) and the part in the south of Ouche depended on the community on the Séquanes . A road connected already Châlon to Châtillon by borrowing a ford on Ouche (about from the place of the current bridge) and another road connecting Dijon to Alésia (Sorb-apple-Holy-Queen) passed by the lanes of Hedge mustards , by Morcueil to gain Mâlain (site of Mediolanum ).
The Roman establishment is attested by the setting at the day (during work of collecting of the source of Morcueil by the town of Dijon) of many Roman currencies and fragments of pottery, and (at the XVIIIe century) by that of ancient lamps, sarcophagi and medals to the effigy of Roman Emperors: Néron, Claude, Vespasien, Maxime and Constantin. The troops of César, attacked by the Gallic riders in the wood of Pasques and Lantenay, obtain the assistance of German riders emerging from a height which is probably that of the Cocheron .
After the conquest, a Gallo-Roman villa is built on left bank of Ouche. Its localization is vague, but could have been with the foot of the Cocheron or more probably in south-west and very close to the current church, where were discovered the sculpture of a naked dancer and construction material remainders. Burials seeming to go back to this time were also put at the day in western edge of the old careers overhanging the road of Ancey, at the exit of Fleurey, vis-a-vis the current pumping station. One wonders about the correspondence of this old cemetery with the site of Barge , inhabited area quoted in documents of files. Florus , owner of the Gallo-Roman villa, gave its name to the locality mentioned as of the Life century (in the chronicle of Saint-Benign) under the denomination of Floriacus .
