History
The name of Flers goes back to the Xe century, the complement of the Escrebieux was added to the beginning of the XXe century.
The escrebieux one was a Lac, now drained.
Formerly agricultural village , the city turned to new industries and the multiple zones of activities.
The creation of the hamlets of " Bridge of Deule" and " Villers" with XIXe and 20th century is dependant on the exploitation of the mines and in particular on that of the Compagnie of Escarpelle
