Flemish Parliament
The Flemish Parlement is the assembly of the Flemish federate entity, one of the components of the Belgium. He exerts at the same time the legislative powers of the Flemish Communauté within the Flemish Région and with Brussels, and regional competences Flemish only in the Flemish Région. He votes in this case of the decrees having the force of regional law. The Flemish Parliament occupies a homonymous building located in the middle of the town of Brussels.
Members of Parliament
The Flemish Parliament account 124 deputies: 118 deputies elected by the universal direct suffrage by the inhabitants of the Flemish Area, and 6 deputies elected by the inhabitants of the Area of Brussels-Capital. These 6 seats of Brussels are occupied by the first 6 Dutch-speaking elected officials of the Parlement of Brussels.The reform of the State of 2001 gave to the Flemings of Brussels (or to the Flemish Inhabitants of Brussels) the possibility of electing the six deputies directly the representative at the Flemish Parliament. That was made the first time at the time of the last Community and regional elections in 2004. The first direct elections at the Flemish Parliament took place the May 21st 1995, the second proceeded the June 13rd 1999. The Flemish Parliament is elected every five years. The Flemish Parliament cannot be dissolved before the end of the session or the legislature (“Parliament of legislature”).

In theory, each of the 124 deputies is member of a political party. The current Flemish Parliament accommodates 7 political parties:- Vlaams Belang/VB, Flemish nationalists of extreme right-hand side, 32 deputies
- Sp.a - Spirit, Socialists + democrat-nationalists of left, 25 deputies
- Christen-Democratisch in Vlaams/CD&V, Flemish Christian-Democrats, 29 deputies
- Vlaamse Liberalen in Democraten/Alive VLD/, liberals, 24 deputies
- Groen!, in the past called Agalev, ecologists, 6 deputies
- N-VA (ex- Volksunie), democrat-nationalists, 7 deputies
- Union of the French-speaking people/UF, French-speaking people of the the Flemish Brabant, 1 deputy
