Flemish Frederic is a Acteur, Director, choreographer and Belgian company director born with Brussels in 1946.
Biography
In 1973, it founds the company of the Plan K which, starting from 1979, occupies an old sugar refinery located at Molenbeek. As of the beginning, impassioned multi-field art, it accommodates in its magic and mythical place artists like Bob Wilson, William Burroughs, Steve Lacy, Philippe Decouflé, Marie Chouinard, Joy Division or Eurythmics.As a director, he works space and architecture with Fabrizio Plessi, and later with Elizabeth Diller and Ricardo Scofidio, Zaha Hadid, Jean Nouvel and, recently, Thom Mayne.
Named in 1992 with the head of old the royal Ballet of Wallonia, Frederic Flemish renames it in Charleroi/Danses and makes of it the first company of Contemporary dance of Belgium.
The February 28th 1998 Maurice Béjart is condemned by Belgian justice to have plagiarized, in its choreography of the Presbytère , an extract of the spectacle of Flemish Frederic the Fall of Icare : one sees a winged dancer there crossing the scene with video monitors as shoes.
In 2004, Frederic Flemish is named director of the national Ballet of Marseilles.
He is officer of the Arts and the Letters.
