Flavin is a common French, located in the department of the Aveyron and the area the Midday-Pyrenees. Its inhabitants is called Flavinois.
Geography
Flavin is with the southern doors of the prefecture of Aveyron, Rodez. It is also with the doors of the valley of Viaur on the plate of Lévezou. One counts, on this large commune of many hamlets such Terral, Bastries, Capelle Viaur, Vayssière, Espessergues, Junelles, Ferrieu, Vayssac, Caumels, Briane, Comps, Mas Marcou, Trémolière…
History
The economic history of Flavin is characterized mainly by the presence lasting of many years of the " Laiterie" , namely an important cheese dairy related to cheese of Roquefort. Functioning only a few months per annum, the dairy closed in the Nineties and is replaced today by a medical analysis laboratory. The modern immence masonry is always visible at the exit of Flavin, in direction of the Monastery.
In very an other field, the bronze statue of St Pierre, located on the place of the same name, is the object of a quite curious legend: according to it, misfortune will fall down on whoever will move the statue!
Administration
On the plan of the services, Flavin has of a post office, a tobacconist's shop (Martine Poilpré), of a bakery (Jacques Vidal), of two restaurants (Planol and Lévezou), of a grocer (Vival). In the field of health, Flavin lodges several doctors, a pharmacy, infirmères, a service of assistance to residence in rural environment (Admr). In the sporting field, associations flavinoises are very active. One will retain the JSL (sporting Youth Lévezou) and Flavin F.C concerning football. There is a club of high level gym departmental and regional, the Take-off. There is also a club of karate, a club of skittles of eight, badminton, of walk, traditional dances, a club of gym maintenance for adults, a club of gym awakening for children: Frimousses, halt-plays, a recreational center, a club of game of bowls, a riding school (Brianelle, in Vayssière) and well of others.
