Flat
In Musical theory, a flat (Symbol ) is a sign of deteriorations, intended to indicate on a Partition of music a lowering of a Demi-ton of the natural height of the associated notes.
Effect of the flat
The effect of the flat is different according to whether this one is “with the key” - i.e. when it is with the armor - or placed in front of a note inside a measurement; it is then about a accidental weathering.
Accidental flat
The effect of the accidental flat deteriorates all the notes of the same name and of the same height being after him until the end of measurement. If this same note must be bemolized beyond the Barre of measurement, the deterioration must be repeated, and this with each new measurement.
Flat with the key
A flat with the key affects all the notes of the same name of following measurements, until the next change of key, or if not until the end of the piece. The accidental deteriorations met (double-flat, natural sign, sharp) for this same note have priority and affect the not bemolized note.
These flat “with the key” are usually recalled to the beginning of each line of range, and to each change of key. They constitute the armor section of the piece. One find them always arranged in this order and this whatever their number: if, semi, D, ground, C, F. It is the order of the flat, or rather the cycle of downward fifths while starting with if.

The flat and Unicode
The character “♭” is with site U+266D in Unicode (9837 into decimal); as it is absent from majority of the keyboards, one often compensates for it by a B into tiny, to which the eye is close to that of the flat. See the Guide of the difficulties of drafting in music on this subject.
The flat and Latex
In Latex, the symbol is obtained with the order
