Eclair is a whole of software developped at the point by the National Pole of Competences Posts Agent of the Minister of education French Main road. The project was initiated in 2003 by Patrick BENAZET in order to answer the problems of the evolution of technical architectures of the data-processing stations in a preoccupation with an automation of the installation of the waiters thelight ones.
Flash is the acronym of " Environment Customer-Leger for the Computer applications in Réseau".
The solution is based on Linux Debian concerning the operating system, LTSP for the waiter of terminals, Gnome for the graphic environment of work. A complete panoply of software applicatifs is provided, it meets all the office automation needs, Internet and multi-media.
The Eclair work station is a computer without hard drive (Diskless) which starts through the network thanks to a chart network PXE. The old PC can be recycled into customer-light without problem, it is enough to a little memory RAM (64Mo are enough) and a processor with the performance reduced makes the deal (Pentium I in Celeron).
The waiter is a standard machine of architecture Intel x386.
Entirely based on free software , the Eclair solution is diffused free by Apt on the mirror site of the National Pole of Competences Posts Agent of the Minister of education French Main road.
