Flannan islands
The islands Flannan (in Scottish Na h-Eileanan Flannach ) are an small group of islands of the Hébrides external in the North-West of the Scotland, with approximately 32 km in the east of island of Lewis (). They probably owe their name according to St Flannan, abbot and Irish preacher of the 7th century.
The islands are divided into 3 groups. The main thing, in the North-East, together of rocks with the two principal islands of Eilean Mòr (" the gross île") and Eilean Taighe (" island of the maison"). In the south, Soray (" is; the island of the est") and Sgeir Tomain, while the principal outcrops in the west are Eilean a' Gobha (" the island of the forgeron"), Roaireim (with a natural arch) and Bròna Cleit (" the sad rock coulé"). The surface of the unit is of approximately 50 hectares and the most point rises with 88 meters with the top of the sea with Eilean Mòr.
The islands are uninhabited since the automation of the headlight in 1971. They are the place of a mystery ever cleared up, disappearance without any trace nor index of the 3 guards of the headlight in December 1900.
