Flag of the hunters

Only one flag… only one heart!

Since their creation, through the ceaseless changes which they known in the number and the organization of their units, the hunters with foot never had but one flag, testimony of their unit and their cohesion. This one is in turn under the guard of a battalion of hunters of active.

The first flag was given to the 2 {{E}} Bataillon by King Louis-Philippe on May 4th, 1841 in Paris and thus was created the tradition.

Decorations

With its folds is hung
  • the Military decoration : gained with the Flag by the " Premier" Battalion of Hunters to Foot which seized with the combat Saint-Blaise (the Vosges), on August 15th, 1914, of the emblem of the 2nd Battalion of the 99e Réserve Infantry Regiment. The Flag of the Hunters was the first to receive the Military decoration. It is attached on its tie before the Legion of Honor
  • the Croix of the Légion of honor conferred on the Flag following the catch of the emblem of Austrian Pomegranate a battalion of the 60e Régiment of Infantry Prinz Gustav von Vasa, on June 24th, 1859, with the Bataille of Solférino, by the 10 {{E}} BCP. In 1902, the 26 {{E}} BCP, which had the guard of the Flag, was officially authorized to attach to the tie of the Emblem of the Hunters, instead of a Croix of Knight, a Croix of Commander.
  • the Military Cross 1914-1918 with palm, which points out, on their common flag, the heroism of the battalions of active and reserve which, during the Great War, carried very high the reputation of those that their enemies called the schwarzen Teufel .
  • the Military Cross 1939-1945 with palm, which expresses the recognition of the Fatherland due to the Hunters of the Marketing year 1939-1940, with those of Resistance, the combat of the Release and the Victoire of 1945
  • the Military Cross of the Theaters of External operations with palm: who carries testimony of the glorious share taken by the 10 {{E}} Bataillon Parachutist of Hunters to foot to the combat of the Tonkin (Indo-China) of 1950 to 1952
  • the Médaille Italian of the Merit of War , which marks the eminent share that took the Hunters in the combat of the Italian face during the Great War
  • the Norwegian Military Cross with sword, which testifies to the splendid attitude to the fire of the Battalions of Alpine hunters at the time of the Expédition of Norway in 1940
  • the Fourragère with the colors of the Legion of Honor , which concretizes, in obvious and eloquent symbol of unit, hundreds of palms and stars which, hung to their flags, are the harvest of glory collected by all the Battalions of Hunters to Foot during the Great War, in 1939-1945 and in Indo-China
