The flag of the Somalia was adopted the October 12th 1954. The flag drawn by Mohammed Awale Lebanon was to be used for the British Somalia but finally allotted to the new country exit of fusion between the Italian Somalia and the British Somalia.
According to Mr. Lebanon, the flag should resemble the flag of the United Nations which helped the Somalia with gained its Indépendance towards the Italy.
The five sides of star symbolizes the five zones where the Somali live: the British Somalia, the Italian Somalia, the French Somalia (Djibouti), Ogaden (Ethiopia) and North, under control of the Kenya.
