Flag of Bulgaria

the national flag of the Bulgaria (in Bulgarian, знаменаБългария, zname Na Balgariya ) was adopted in 1879, one year after the release of the country of the Ottoman Empire. It is composed of three horizontal bands of equal width: White above, Green in the Red medium and for that of bottom. The white symbolizes peace, the green the fertility of the Bulgarian grounds and the red the courage of the people.

The shape and the colors of the Bulgarian flag are registered in the Constitution of the Republic of Bulgaria , article 166. In parallel, the Law of the official seal and the national flag of the Republic of Bulgaria describe the form, the colors exact, the statute of national symbol and the protocol of use.

Between 1946 and 1990, the flag carries the Blason of Bulgaria on the left part of the white band.
