Flag of Algeria

The Drapeau of the Algérie is used during the war of independence.

Its characteristics are defined by the Loi 63-145 of the April 25th 1963 bearing “characteristics of the emblem Nation Algerian Al”.

Symbol S

The two bands of color represent, for the Vert E, the Islam, and for the Blanche, the Pureté. The Growing and the red star are symbols Musulman S representing by the crescent the way which the Moslem lasting must traverse his life to be able to hope to reach the Paradis, and by star, five Piliers of Islam.

According to the official significance: conceived in April 1945 following a synthesis of the standards of the Ottoman Empire, the emir Abdelkader and escutcheon of North-African Star, adopted on April 3rd, 1962 by the provisional government of the Algerian Republic (GPRA) and officialized by the law of April 25th, 1963.

The flag of the democratic and popular Algerian Republic is consisted a green and white rectangle struck of a star and a crescent reds.

The green must be of a composition with equality of yellow and blue having, according to the diagram of contrast of Rood, a wavelength of 5.411 and position 600 on the normal spectrum. The red must be pure, of primary color indecomposable, and of blue and yellow having according to the diagram know-indicated, a wavelength of 6.562 and position 285 on normal spectrum.

The length of the rectangle is equal to once and half its width (height of the flag). This rectangle is divided according to the small median into two halves. Half of green color is placed inside against the Hampe. Half of white color is placed outside.

The star is with five branches. It is registered in a circle whose ray is equal to the eighth height of the flag. It is detached entirely on the white zone from the flag, two points are on the small median of the rectangle and a point on the great median.

The ray of the circle external of the crescent is equal to the quarter height of the flag. The ray of the interior circle of the crescent is equal to the fifth height of the flag. The two points of the crescent delimit a large arc equal to the five sixth of the circumference of the external circle. The center of the circle external of the crescent is in the center of the rectangle.
