Flémalle

Flémalle (in Walloon Flémåle ) is a common French-speaking of Belgium located in Walloon region in the Province of Liege.

It counts at January 1st, 2007 25.021 inhabitants for a surface of 36,59 km ².

Flémalle form with Liege, Seraing, Herstal, Saint Nicolas's Day and Years agglomeration of Liege (600 000 inhabitants). It thus forms part of the administrative and legal district of Liege as well as electoral and legal canton of Grace-Hollogne.

Castle of Aigremont

Hung on the heights of the Meuse, halfway between Liege and Huy, draws up the castle of Aigremont. This castle of Renaissance style was built at the beginning of the 18th century by the archdeacon Mathias Clercx. One can admire there in particular in his interior of style baroque, a whole of tapestries of Brussels of as well as the furniture put in deposit by the royal Association of the historical residences and gardens of Belgium.

The fort

The fort of Flémalle is large extremely trapezoidal. Located on the old commune of Flémalle-Large, dominating the Meuse and the ways towards Namur, this fort was built according to the projects of the Brialmont general of 1888 to 1891 and was faced the fort of Boncelles. In 1914, it was the theater of hard combat opposing resistance flémalloise to the German invaders who occupied it and modified it. Rearmed in the Thirties, one can still at present see the many scars of the large bombardments.

The castle and the park of Small Flémal'

This castle located on Grand' Route shelters since 1938 the communal services. It was built in several stages: the right wing built during the 17th century.
