Sir Fitzroy Hew Royle Maclean off Dunconnel , 1st baronet of Strachur and Glensluain (March 11th, 1991, Egypt - June 15th, 1996, Scotland) was a diplomat, soldier, adventurer, writer and Scottish politician.

In its work Eastern Approaches , Maclean tells its adventures in Soviet Central Asia, and in the countryside of the Western desert, where it specialized in the raids commando behind the enemy lines. Some supposed that it was one of the sources of inspiration of Ian Fleming for James Bond.
