Firstly Conti

Primo Conti (October 16th 1900, Florence - November 12th 1988) is a futuristic artist Italian.

He was born the October 16th 1900. As of the age of 8 or 9 years, its early talents in the fields of the Music, the Poetry and the Peinture let foresee its Génie. In 1913, it made the meeting of the Futuristic ones.

Its attraction for the most recent innovations was expressed in forms almost entirely futuristic in its drawings, whereas it developed in its painting a single style, mixes Art nouveau, of Fauvisme, Expressionnisme and of Orphisme. It was not before 1917, after having met Giacomo Balla with Rome, and Filippo Tommaso Marinetti with Naples (which congratulated later Conti cordially for its book Imbottigliature about to be printed) that Conti became member of the Futuriste movement. Its contribution to the movement was not limited solely to its literary works, but also by paintings and the drawings which it produced between 1917 and 1919, years when its work took a tendency Métaphysique.

The years 1920 were one complex period for Conti. It explored there the Maniérisme, the Exotisme, the Pittura Metafisica, as well as great historical and religious painting, being interested in a vast domain to which was added its lively interest for the world theatrical and literary of Luigi Pirandello, Massimo Bontempelli and Enrico Pea, which will lead it to the foundation of the Prix Viareggio in 1929.

The years 1930 will slip through various events, alternating between the constraints in the private one and the célébratives philosopher's stones, between the adhesion forced with the Fascisme (it joint with the Partito Nazionale Fascista), and its interior rebellion against this adhesion which perspired in its refusal to join the Groupe Novecento of Margherita Sarfatti and in other episodes of nonalignment with the line of the party. New prospects open with him only when it is implied in the renewal of the scenography of the Opera house at the time of the foundation of the Maggio Fiorentino.

During the years 1940, a long time before the official redécouverte (20 years later) of the Futuristic movement, Conti still worked on subjects and Futuristes experiments. Of 1948 with 1963, it followed the rule of the Ordre of Franciscains, while continuing to paint.

Several of its works are preserved at Museo Primo Conti (Foundation of the Museum Firstly Conti) in the villa Coste with Fiesole (close to Florence).
