First stage of the Tour de France 2005
The first stage of the Tour de France 2005 was held the July 2nd 2005 of against-the-watch between Fromentine and the island of Noirmoutier on a distance of 19 km. It is an atypical distance for a turn of France and a fortiori for a first stage, because this stage is not regarded a Prolog (it exceeds 10 km) but as a truth Against-the-watch at a reduced distance. It was gained by the American David Zabriskie who takes this day consequently occasion the yellow jersey of leader. It precedes of 2 second its compatriot Lance Armstrong. To note that this last caught up with Jan Ullrich left one minute before him and took an important lead, higher than the minute, on its principal rivals. It imposes as of this first stage its print and shows its desire for hanging a seventh Tour de France with its prize list.
