According to the figures of the census of 1999, the district was then populated X inhabitants.
Political description
District gathering of the popular suburbs, and consisted of a great number of disadvantaged districts, like the Pyramids with Évry or Tarterêts in Corbeil, the first district of the Essonne is a district resolutely on the left.
Thus, since the recutting of 1988, this one always was essential in the district, easily in the event of vague national pink (60% in 1988 and 57% in 1997), and with difficulty in the event of blue vagueness (50,19% in 1993 and 52,97% in 2002). Lastly, it is necessary to note the strong presence of the National front, which reaches up to 19,28% of the voices in 1997, without succeeding in however causing triangular.
Manuel Valls, member media of the socialist party, in addition mayor of évry since 2001, is the deputy of the district since 2002. Elected official relatively with difficulty in 2002 vis-a-vis the industrialist Serge Dassault, mayor UMP of Corbeil-Essonnes, in a national context of defeat of the left, Manuel Valls was triumphantly re-elected in June 2007 with more than 60% of the votes, vis-a-vis the candidate of right-hand side Cristela De Olivera. It is by far about the best score of the left in the Essonne.
Only the rather easy commune of Bondoufle seems to have resisted the vague local pink. The communes of Courcouronnes, Smooth and especially Corbeil-Essonnes, however held by the line, mainly granted their votes to the socialist candidate, and this in a national context of victory of the right-hand side.
On the four cantons of the district, three are on the left against an asset with the right-hand side: cantons of Evry-North and of Evry-South are held by Socialist party (of which the president of the General advice Michel Berson for that of Evry-North), underlining with the passage the hegemony of this party on the capital essonnienne, while that of western Corbeil-Essonnes (canton which includes/understands also the commune of Villabé) is represented by the Communist Bruno Piriou, in a commune of working tradition, a long time stronghold of the Communist party, before becoming in 1995, that of UMP Serge Dassault. The canton of Corbeil-Is (the center town plus the surrounding districts) is held by Jean-Michel Fritz, first UMP mayor-assistant of the commune.
In this context, the left seems to have beautiful days in front of it, in a district which since many years, is systematically acquired to him.
