First council of Braga

The council of Braga took place in the Portuguese city of Braga of May 1st 561 with 563.

Supported by the pope Jean III, the council declares Anathème whoever believes that the Diable can by itself produce storms and the dryness or that the stars determine the fate of the human ones, because a too large place was given to Satan apart from the Église in the company of the time.

Moreover, gun 7 of this council tries to draw up a list of principal the demon S. ( Voir the list lower )

It in addition prohibits the fast during the Christmas Day.

It opens in the same way, as of 563, the way with a criminal qualification of the Suicide in Christendom, except at the “insane ” or the victims of a “ great sorrow ”.

This council is also directed against the Manichéens (Mani and Priscillien) and declares that the men are not delivered to a blind destiny.

If somebody claims that the devil was not initially one (good) angel made by God, and that its nature was not the work of God, but (if he) claims that he left chaos and darkness and that he does not have anybody for author of his being, but who he is itself the principle and the substance of the evil, as say it Mani and Priscillien, that he is anathema

Moreover, against the tendencies manichéennes and Gnostic S, which preached that the body was bad and that it had to be scorned, the first council of Braga affirms that all that exists, even the body world, is good, since it was created by God.

If somebody condemns the human marriage and detests the procreation of the children, like Mani and Priscillien said it, that it is anathema. If somebody says that the formation of the human body is the work of the devil and that the design in the maternal center is the work of the demons, and if, for this reason, he does not believe in the resurrection of the flesh, like Mani and Priscillien said it, that he is anathema ” (towards 561).
