First commando of the capital

The First commando of the capital ( Primeiro Commando da Capital in Portuguese) or PCC is a Brazilian gangster organization, very powerful in the prison medium.

The PCC was born on August 31st 1993 with the prison of Taubaté, named Gros Piranha ( Piranhão ). This prison located at 130 km of São Paulo was the surest prison of the state of Sao Paulo at the time. The PCC was created at the time of a football game by eight prisoners: Misael " Misa" Aparecido da Silva, Wander Eduardo " Cara Gorda" (Large mug) Ferreira, Antonio Carlos Roberto da Paixão, Isaías " Esquisito" (Odd) Moreira C Nascimento, Ademar " Dafé" back Santos, Antonio " Bicho Feio" (Ugly Animal) Carlos back Santos, César " Césinha" (Small César) Augusto Roris da Silva and Jose " Geleião" (Large frost) Márcio Felício. Commando Capitale was the name which they had given to their team of foot. Acronym PCC also refers has Parti the Crime . It is also known under the figures " 15.3.3" (alphabetical order of the letters forming name PCC).

According to its founders, the organization was created to fight " the oppression of the system pénitentiaire" and to avenge the 111 dead ones for the massacre for Carandiru for October 2nd 1992, killed during brutal repression by the military police force of a revolt in the largest prison of the country. In fact, it was organized and functions like an criminal organization. With for watchword " for all, all for a " , the PCC was quickly connected with a Maffia of the prisons. The members are recruited and go up in rank by achieving missions of confidence: crimes, traffics, extortions, etc Today, if the Brazilian prison authorities recognize officially only 1500 members to him, the PCC would count nearly 20.000 members according to former leaders of the movement. To be financed, the PCC set up a system of " cotisations" : " frères" imprisoned pays each month 50 réals (approximately 18 euros), 500 for those which are already released. The PCC controls the drug trafficking in the prisons, plans assassinations (inside or outside the prisons) according to the needs for the " cause". It can operate in quasi impunity in the prisons while having organized a corruption with large scales of the guards. The prisoners to which it grants his protection often pay their debt once released. The PCC is also more and more at the origin of criminal actions out of the prisons on Sao Paulo and its area.

In May 2006, Several hundreds of prisoners, considered as chiefs of gangs were going to be transferred towards the prison from high security President Venceslau to more than 500 km of the capital. Having been informed of this transfer by a corrupted civil servant of the government of the province, the PCC launches a revolt in the whole of the prisons of the state of Sao Paulo, that is to say nearly 150.000 prisoners as well as a true urban guerilla warfare in large Sao Paulo with attacks against police stations, banks and buses and various public places which will make more than 150 dead. These riots clarified the dilapidation of the Brazilian penitentiary system with more than 350.000 prisoners in over-populated establishments and violent one with a strong corruption of penitentiary staff. Between the 11 and on July 15th, 2006, 106 attacks were perpetrated against of the courts, the supermarkets, the banks, the buses and the police stations: these acts of violence are the new ones allotted to the PCC.
