First battle of Isonzo
The June 23rd 1915, during the First World War, the Italy NS open the first of the battles of Isonzo vis-a-vis the Austria-Hungary.
200.000 Italians, at the beginning approximately twice more as men and pieces of artillery which the Austro-Hungarians, gain ground at the time of the first phase of the battle. However their principal offensive, which begins on June 30th, shows a failure. Indeed, the Italian forces which attack on a face of 30 km, manage to give an opinion only at one place, on left bank of the Isonzo.
A new attack on July 5th gives few results. The Italian armies, IIe armed under the orders with the general Pietro Frugoni and IIIe with the duke with Aoste, take the head of the offensive.
In spite of a numerical superiority of six against one, they advance of less than 2 km. It essuient heavy losses: 5.000 men, including 4.000 for the only battle of Gorizia. The Austro-Hungarians losses rise with 10.000 men.
July 7th sounds the end of the first battle of Isonzo.
