First Great Western

The First Great Western is a British Railway company which exploits, within the framework of a Concession allotted to the group First Group by the Strategic Rail Authority (SRA), the network of the Great Western Hand Line. It is a subsidiary company of First since its acquisition by this group. Its name points out that of the old network Great Western Railway.

Until 1996, Great Western Trains Company Limited was a subsidiary company of the British Railways. It was the first with being privatized, within the framework of a recovery by the framing and the personnel of the company. Thereafter, the March 30th 1998, it was resold with the group FirstGroup Plc, first owner of drunk in Great Britain and one of the principal railway owners.

The served network includes/understands three main axes towards the south-east of the England and the south of the Wales, at the beginning of the Gare of London-Paddington. The company serves in particular:

First Great Western also obtained the concession of the network of the valley of the the Thames, exploited previously by Thames Trains.
