Firepower

The firepower is a notion which synthesizes various characteristics of a Arme with projectile, in particular of the Arme S with fire. It expresses the capacity of destruction (related on the size and the nature of the projectiles) and gives rhythm it shooting.

Thus, a semi-automatic Pistolet of 9 mm Parabellum equipped with a charger of 15 cartridges will offer, thanks to the capacity of its charger, with the speed of the shooting in simple action and with the speed of recharging, a firepower higher than that of a Revolver with 6 rooms .357 Magnum.

This concept, rather fuzzy because without very precise definition, is quite distinct from that of the Stopping power or the wounding Pouvoir.

By generalization, the term of firepower is also used to indicate the offensive capacity of a unit or combat equipment.
