Fire with sectors

In sea Transport, a fire with sector or fire of guidance is a Balisage luminous, generally carried by a Phare or a marks out, whose beam of light changes color according to the place from where it is observed. It is generally used to make it possible the Navire S to sail of Nuit in a zone comprising of the dangers: nonenlightened coast near to a channel of entry of port, zone of Shallow water, small island, nonluminous Beacon, zone of Damping, borders Chenal, etc

It generally comprises a white luminous sector which indicate the free zone of dangers and the luminous sectors red and green which indicate the dangerous sectors (red with Bâbord of the healthy zone, green with Tribord). If the boat deviates from the healthy water zone, the colors green or red which appear then make it possible to carry out the correction in the right direction.

In certain places of navigation (nonrectilinear Channel,…), the ship must sometimes successively follow several fires to sector.

An example of fire with sector

To enter the Salcombe river to the the United Kingdom it is necessary to leave on its left a escarpée coast, nonenlightened (uninhabited) and not Accore (some small islands overflow it) then to leave rocks partly immersed on Tribord before entering the river while transfering on the line. A fire with sector located on bank indicates by a narrow white beam of light (5°) the route to follow of night. Its red sector indicates the danger zone with the accesses of cliff of left while the green makes it possible to arise correctly in the passage tightened before the entry in the river.

Fire in question is of size modest (a score of centimetres in height), but the white beam has a nominal range of 10 miles. One can notice the narrowness of the white beam of light at the beginning: it is the not coloured part of the indicator between the red and the green

Once arrived in the axis of the river, the entering ship must follow the alignment of 2 directional fires (they are not indicated on the diagram) which makes it possible to hold a road in the middle of the river.
