Fire station no.2
The fire station no.2 is a historical building of the district Hochelaga-Maisonneuve in the town of Montreal to the Quebec.
Geographical location
Located at 4200, rue Ontario Est, the building shelters today the Maison of the Culture Maisonneuve. One finds there a library, a theater and a showroom.
History
The building is drawn by the architect Charles Reeves in 1909 for the Northern town of Maisonneuve. Given up, it closes its doors in 1970 to open several years later with a new vocation which one knows today.
Structure
Of industrial type, very utility, architecture meets perfectly the need for a fire station. With its large doors, for the carrioles with horses, always also adequate later for the trucks of fireman, his brick frontage, without large ornamentations, and its Cornice, the building is also built in height (3 stages) to allow a day before on the city. Today, one can see an appendix of the architects Faucher Aubertin Brodeur Gauthier attached to the back of the building.
