Fire-merry

Fire-merry is super-unpleasant created by Marvel Comics, appeared for the first time in Amazing Spider-Man #167 , in 1977.

Origin

Jackson Arvad was a chief of laboratory working for Brand Corporation until an accident breaks the magnetic room on which he worked. It was touched by the field and started to dissolve, without his/her colleague, James Melvin, not helping it. However, it mourrut not but started to lose its tangible form. Fearing to remain forever in this spectral state, he sought the assistance of Doctor Jonah Harrow, which established a chip making him lose the control of its molecules. He obliged it to fly from the banks. Spider-Man tried to stop it. And thanks to him, Fire-merry control began again by dissipating the chip of its cranium.

Some time later, it succeeds in taking again the control of its body completely, then found its physical integrity by kidnapping a scientist for helping there. It destroyed the laboratory and sought to be avenged for Melvin and Harrow. When it put the hand on Melvin, it did not kill it but made public the illegal activities of Brand Corporation.

It remained in good term with Spider-Man and even helped it to overcome a common enemy.

He joined during a time the Man-Sand, and the Maraudeur Masked, before being committed by Silver Sable. Then it belonged to the Outlaws.

Its current activities are unknown.

Capacities

  • Fire-merry can mentally control the electromagnetic particles of its body, being able to make itself intangible or hard like stone. In this last form, its force and its resistance increase, enabling him to raise 12 tons.

  • In its éthérée form, it can fly. At full speed, it resembles a ball of light.
  • Fire-merry has a capacity of moderate hypnotism.
