The finnstick , or Finnish stick , is as its name indicates it, a stick, usually with a fork with its end, on which are posed the Jumelles to keep them on the eye-level, thus allowing to put back the arms. That is useful for long periods of observation, like the follow-up of the hunting of a Faucon, the observation of the birds of sea from the coast or on a boat.
Finnish stick (" finnstick") is the name given by the observers of birds to indicate a stick with an aim of supporting binoculars. An end of the stick supports the binoculars and the other is rested on the belly of the Ornithologue.
These sticks are originating in Finland where they are called staijikeppi . One can manufacture oneself these sticks, with a 4 - 6 cm diameter and 60 - 100 cm length branch, with a natural three-pronged fork with his end, installed under the barrel of the binoculars.
