Finnish music

A large side of the Finnish Musique is influenced by the melodies and the words of the traditional Musique Carélienne, such as it is expressed by the Kalevala . The culture carélienne is regarded as the purest expression of the Mythe S and Croyance S of the Finnish culture, and the least influenced by the Germanic culture . The Finnish traditional music saw a revival since some decades, and became a branch of the popular Musique. The people of the north of Finland, the Saami, have their clean musical tradition.

The Finnish popular modern music includes a famous scene of metal, musical phenomenon divided with the others Scandinavian Pays, as well as a certain number of groups of Rock, musicians of Jazz and representatives of the Hip-hop. The Finnish music is also represented by a great number of artists of classical music.

Folk music

There are two principal traditions in the Finnish folk music, the music kalevalienne and the music pelimanni.

Saami music

One of the Saami traditions particularly interesting is the song Joik (Yoïk delivery). The joiks sing traditionally has cappella , generally slowly and of the bottom of the throat, while making show through anger or pain. The Christian missionaries and the priests qualified them “songs of the Devil”. Nowadays, the joiks are frequently accompanied by instruments.

Classical music & opera

Finland has a scene of very alive classical music: the Finnish classical music exists only since one hundred years, and many its important type-setters are still in life. There is also a great number of talented leaders, such as Mikko Franck, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Jukka-Pekka Saraste, Susanna Mälkki and Leif Segerstam.

Finland has also type-setters of Modern music of reputation: Einojuhani Rautavaara, Kaija Saariaho, Magnus Lindberg.

Finnish popular music

An originality of the popular Finnish music is the Finnish Tango, a particularly popular musical style in Finland during the years 1940 and 1950, with crossed between the Argentinian tango for the music, and the Russian traditional music for the words and the song. The three more famous representatives of the Finnish tango are Olavi Virta, Eino Grön, Reijo Taipale.

Rock'n'roll and pop music

Suomirock is the word which means Finnish music rock'n'roll. The music rock'n'roll arrived to Finland in the years 1950.

Nightwish, Amorphis, Waltari, Stratovarius, Kotipelto, Sentenced, Sonata Arctica, Children off Bodom, Charon, HIM, and The 69 Eyes surfent on a wave of success in Europe and to the Japan since the years 1990, and this Finnish scene of metal gains in popularity with the the United States since the end of the year 1990. At the end of the years 1990, the traditional group of metal Apocalyptica, a four-bit byte of violoncellists, sold with a half million specimens in the world a disc of Reprise again S of the group Metallica.

Another musical group which surfe on a wave, more pop, success is The Rasmus. Their album " Dead Letters " in the world to 1,5 million specimens was sold, and their was worth eight gold discs and five platinum discs. The tube " In The Shadows" positioned among the 10 best sales in eleven countries, and it video of the song it video was diffused on MTV Europe during the year 2005.

More recently, the Finnish group Lordi, énième misadventure of the musical tendency hard rock/heavy metal, gained the musical competition of the Eurovision 2006, with the song " Hard rock Hallelujah ". It is the only time that Finland gained this competition. A few weeks after the victory of Lordi, the municipality of Rovaniemi, in which the singer of the group is originating, one of the places of the city of the name of the group renamed (which is also the name of scene of the singer), thus following a Finnish tradition which is especially applied to the triumphing sportsmen who carry high the colors of the country.

About 2000, HIM is met a business success, and an international success as a group of alternative Rock. Several Finnish groups, such as Entwine, Lullacry, and Poisonblack, followed in the same style.

Electronic music

In the community of the electronic music, Jori Hulkkonen and Jimi Tenor have had an international reputation for one decade.

Jazz

The Finnish musicians of the most famous jazz are Edward Vesala, Heikki Sarmanto and Eero Koivistoinen.
