The Finnish Lapland , Rabbit lääni in Finnish ( Lapplands län in Swedish), is located at the north of the Province of Oulu, it has a border with the Russia, the Sweden and the Norway.
It is at the same time one of the 6 Provinces of Finland and one of the 20 Régions of Finland.
Lapland is populated only of 3.6% of the Finnish population, it is the least populated province Finland (except Åland). It counts 185.700 inhabitants out of 98.946 km ² with less than 2 hab/km ².
It has as a capital Rovaniemi.
History
Lapland was separated from the Province of Oulu in 1936. It loses, after the Second world war, the area of Petsamo and part of the commune of Salla, yielded to the Soviet Union.
