Finley Quaye
Finley Quaye (born the March 25th 1974, with Edinburgh, Scotland) is a Scottish Musicien. He gained in 1997 a MOBO Awards for the best piece Reggae, and in 1998 a Brit Award for the Best Artist British Solo.
Life and career
Quaye is the Fils of the musician of Jazz Cab Kaye and of Sharon McGowan, and the frre of famous the Guitariste Caleb Quaye. Finley is not in any manner dependant on Tricky.Quaye went to school to London, Manchester and Edinburgh. However, it left the school without diploma. Before recording discs, it had like employment the painting of car, the fish manuring, the manufacture of futon and also worked as techinician of scene.
His/her father was born with London, regarding to him even as a African , and although it was known like Cab Kaye, its true name was Nii Lante Augustus Kwamlah Quaye. Kaye was the son of the Pianiste Caleb Jonas Quaye alias Mope Desmond, born with Accra with the Ghana. Kaye does not grow with his/her father and discovered only around its twenty years the history of his/her father as a musician. The music is in their blood, having produced four generations of musicians. Mope Desmond, Cab Kaye and Finley Quaye played all Barrowlands of Glasgow, Wolfrun Hall of Wolverhampton and Coffee of Paris of London. Finley was inspired very early by the musicians jazz Pete King, Ronnie Scott and Lionel Hampton. Moreover, Duke Ellington was the godfather of Finley. Finley heard jazz being child in London with his mother who regularly brought her young person wire to the club of jazz of Ronnie Scott, producing the very rare American services of jazzmen in round in Europe, such as Buddy Rich which recorded its album live in 1980 there. His/her mother presented it to Lionel Hampton in Edinburgh. Duke Ellington had an indelible mark on the life of Finley and her musical landscape. Quaye was in round with its group with] when it met his father for the first time.
It signed a contract in solo with Polydor Records and moved with New York. It started to work with Epic/Sony when its contract with Polydor ended, and at the end of 1997 it reached Signal 20 British with the piece " Sunday Shinning" and " Even After All". Its reputation was established by Maverick has Strike , a album adventurous but accessible left in September 1997. It was Gold Disque less than three weeks later, which led it directly to the Brit Award. Maverick has Strike is from now on several Disque times of Platinum. Two other albums left to Epic Records, Vanguard and Much More Than Much Love .
In 2004, the song " Dice" , in collaboration with William Orbit, and making appear Beth Orton was a hit minor, helped partly by his insertion in the band of Newport Beach.
Finley Quaye currently lives and works with Berlin since 2005.
