The Finland-Eastern province of , Itä-Suomen lääni in Finnish ( Östra Finlands län in Swedish), is located at the north of the province of Finland-Southerner, at the south of the Province of Oulu and at the east of the Finland-Western province of .
It counts 578.800 inhabitants out of 48.727 km ² with 12 hab. /km ².
It has as a capital Mikkeli and is made up of three areas:

Savonie of North or Pohjois-Savo ( Norra Savolax in Swedish),
- Savonie of the South or Etelä-Savo ( Södra Savolax in Swedish),
- Karelia of North or Pohjois-Karjala ( Norra Karelen in Swedish),
On the whole 64 communes (municipalities) compose this province, of which for example: Joensuu, Kuopio, Mikkeli.
