The finch is small a Passereau common Granivore in Europe.

Truths Finches

There exists in Europe two species of finches:

  • the the Finch of the trees, most widespread

  • the Brambling, which niche only in Scandinavia and Siberia but which migrates in winter of the Germany until the the Mediterranean.

The nozzle of the finch enables him to eat seeds and cores. The Plumage of the male is coloured enough. Its head has a gray cap, its back is russet-red, its cheeks and its breast piece is pink orange. Its wings are barred of white. The plumage can vary according to the areas.

Finches of Darwin

They are not truths finches: Charles Darwin gave them this name by error, when he discovered them into 1835 with the Galapagos. There exist thirteen species of “finches” of Darwin, distributed in all the archipelago; they all are grisâtres or brown pale.

Classification

The finches are grouped under three categories: the best singers, is fringillidés; the largest category, is estrildidés (astrildidés or astrildes) and the last group, category of finches which is rarer on the market, is plocéidés.

The finches belong to Fringillidé S about the Passériformes.

  • the Pinson of the trees has as a scientific name Fringilla coelebs

  • the Brambling has as a scientific name Fringilla montifringilla
  • the blue Pinson has as a scientific name Fringilla teydea

The finches of Darwin belong to the family of the Géospizidé S.
