History
Final Cut Studio was presented for the first time to NAB in April 2005. This continuation of software replaces Production Continuation with new versions of all the applications of the old continuation, like with a new tool, “Soundtrack Pro”, which are in fact a new version of “Soundtrack”, a tool which was delivered with Final Cut Pro. In January 2006, it became impossible individually to get the applications contained in Final Cut Studio. In March 2006, Apple presented a version Universal of its professional continuation, Final Cut Studio 5.1.
History of the versions
Sale
Final Cut Studio is described like a complete continuation of post-production, because it allows at the same time the video assembly, graphic animation and the audio post-production. It is the big brother of the continuation ILife, which is intended to the amateurs. IMovie is the simplified version of Final Cut Pro; GarageBand 3 is a version general public of Soudtrack Pro (with its capacity of integration with iMovie); and IDVD is the simplified version of DVD Studio Pro. Just like Motion, iMovie includes effects Core image which can be applied in real-time.
High-definition
With the Macworld Conference and Expo 2005, Steve Jobs (president and cofounder of Apple) declared that 2005 would be “the year of the High-definition”. For this purpose, the assumption of responsibility of the high-definition in Final Cut Pro was highlighted, inter alia, while placing a logo “HD” on the box of the continuation.
Final Cut Studio accepts almost all formats HD: (HDV, DVCPRO HD and the not-compressed HD) and Soundtrack Pro and Motion can import all these formats. DVD Studio Pro 4 allows the engraving of contents HD on the standard DVD, HD DVD and the Blu-Ray discs, although the engravers HD DVD and Blu-Ray are not yet available to the general public.
Integration
The applications of Final Cut Studio are conceived so as to form a whole. As example:
-
the sequences Final Cut Pro can be exported towards Soundtrack Pro to carry out their soundtrack
- the sequences Final Cut Pro can be encodées in other formats thanks to Compressor
- the sequences Final Cut Pro can be exported towards Motion to add effects to them, or towards LiveType for the effects of titration
- the LiveType projects can be directly open in Final Cut Pro without to be beforehand exported
- the Motion projects can be built-in DVD Studio without to be beforehand exported
- the “LiveFonts” of LiveType can be used in Motion
Final Cut Pro and Motion are integrated with Shake, a software of compositing of Apple.
