The the Thames (in English To rivet Thames ) is a Fleuve crossing the southernmost England and connecting London to the sea.

The Thames has a 346 kilometers length. It is the principal river of the the United Kingdom, but the Severn is longest, with 354 km.

Occurring with the foot of the hills of Cotswold, with Thames Head , in the parish of Coates, in the south of Cirencester, it curves towards the the North Sea while following a west-east axis primarily. It then crosses Oxford, Wallingford, Reading, Sonning, Henley-one-Thames, Marlow, Maidenhead, Eton, Windsor, Hampton, Kingston, Richmond upon Thames before entering London. In spite of its width, many bridges cross it in the capital: Chelsea, Vauxhall, Westminster, Waterloo, London Bridge, Tower Bridge… It continues then by Greenwich and the Dartford before entering the sea by a drowned estuary.

The Thames has relatively little notable affluents. The main thing is the Kennet which reaches him left bank in Reading. Thereafter, it receives on the left Colne and the Lea, on the right Wey, the Mole and Darent.

With approximately 90 kilometers of the sea, upstream of London, the river starts to show signs of activity of Marée. In London, water is slightly brackish because of the marine salt. The river, authorizing the passage of large ships, contributed to the maritime tradition of England. A network of channels the fact of communicating with the Severn, the Channel of Bristol-board and the the Trent.
