Report/ratio of the music to film
For Igor Stravinski, the music was a “Papier painted” for film; it meant by there that the music was to support the image and the history, but not to take the step. In the musical comedies, on the contrary, the music is often a dominating factor since it is it which guides the rate/rhythm of film: the diction (song) of the actors, their movements, the movements of camera…
The music is often the “poor relation” of film. The realizers and the producers are conscious of his importance, in particular of the emotion which it can cause at the spectator, of the tears associated with the Violon S with the excitation with a jerked music with a saturated sound, while passing by concern, the anguish or the discomfort of a dissonant music . The music is one of the Meaning S of the cinema. But often, it does not form part of the development of film and is ordered on an end of budget, the type-setter having to arrange itself with film already assembled.
In certain cases, the realizer is guided by a music, a song, a piece which it has at the head, and which will be able to form part or not music of film.
Two tendencies in general are distinguished:
- a music written for film;
- a using film of the already existing pieces.
