Film club
The film club (of the element movies (of Cinema ), and of the word Club ) is a club of amateurs of cinema. One can study there the technical and the Histoire of the cinema following the projection of a Film.
Its specificity is to bring together members having shared interests, whose the programming on the film club and the subjects of discussion will depend which will take place there.
History
The term of film club appears for the first time with the creation of the “Film club” of Edmond Benoit-Levy in April 1907. Located at the 5 the purpose of Boulevard Montmartre with Paris, it is to preserve and place at the disposal of its members all the documents and film productions existing. It is also equipped with a room of projection.Beginnings - years 1920 at the Second world war

Programming
The programming of the film clubs respects in the majority of the cases a guiding line corresponding to the teaching aiming of association. Defined initially by the founding members of the film club according to selection criteria so much practical (means of the film club) that theoretical (ideology of the film club), as well the programming as the guiding line can evolve/move according to the request of the public, or the means and ideologies which are dependant there.General theory
Each film club thus has its own programming, generally very different from that of the cinemas more large-public. A major distinction precisely resides in the presence of a guiding line depending directly on a theory shared by (S) the member (S) founder (S), and who constitutes the raison d'être of the ciné-club.These theories, often founded by the reflections of scenario writers (Jean-Luc Godard, for its speech in History (S) of the cinema, but also as we saw Louis Delluc, Abel Gance, etc) or theorists of the cinema (thus, André Bazin, Jean Douchet created their own Ciné-club), is however not essential to the good performance of association.
Because if the theory of the film club is often used as starting point for the discussions and debates according to the projection of films, the organizers and speakers being able to be the theorists them-even (occasional permanent members or guests), it is as possible as certain members having prepared a presentation of projected film, or knowing particularly work or the tackled subject, speak in order to carry out the debate.
Cycles
Within the framework of a development of consumer loyalty of the public to the cinematographic activity that the film club represents, the members of this last establish various cycles intended to foresee the various facets of a kind, a running, a character, a specific trade or of a technical of the cinema.Primarily two types of distinct cycles arise:
- the permanent cycles have regular programming (weekly, monthly) at fixed hour. They extend at least on the unit from the year from work if not over several years. One often finds there the same public for reasons of availability and usually which are as we higher mentioned one of the reasons to be of these cycles.
- the periodic cycles are spread out only over a few days or weeks (even month in certain cases) and are primarily intended to accompany an event external with the film club. One finds them during principal the cinema festivals, but also in parallel with exposures, commemorations etc.
A cycle:
- by realizer: " Jacques Tati " as an aim the presentation of films of Jacques Tati will have.
- by kind: " Péplums " as an aim the presentation of péplums
- by type will have: " Adaptations of works littéraires" will have as an aim the presentation of adaptations of literary works
- by topic: " Prison with the cinema " as an aim the presentation of films will have which approach the topic of the prison.
- by nationality: " With the Burkina Faso " as an aim the presentation of Burkinabe films will have.
But let us recall however that this extreme case is exceptional and that the usual cycles are related to integrals of characters or important topics of the cinema. Thus, the French Cinémathèque will have presented in 2007 the integral work of Sacha Guitry or cycles it Fantômes midday , presenting films treating more or less directly phantoms.
Special meetings
In order to always give more spirit to the film club, can be there organized meetings known as special, reproduced regularly or in exceptional circumstances. Among the frequent special meetings, one will find in particular the meetings concerning a public private individual like the meetings young person public.Previews, projections in the presence of a personality in connection with the Film or its Turning, world days, commemorations, are as many pretexts at the special meetings, these last being declined sometimes in days or weeks special.
