Filippo Rusuti is a painter and an Italian mosaïste of the Roman school active between the end 13th century and the beginning of the 14th century.

Biography

Few of its works are known. It forms part, with Jacopo Torriti and Pietro Cavallini, of the Roman school of the end of the 13th century and its most famous work is the mosaic of the old frontage of the Roman church of Holy-Marie-Major Basilique. He collaborated with Torriti in the internal decoration of the same church.

He was probably present at decoration with fresco of the higher church of the basilica Saint-François d' Assise and in this case also at Jacopo Torriti, some parts of the Histoires of the Genesis , to him are allotted in particular the Création of Adam and Eve recognized formally her hand.

In spite of its stylistic knowledge of Cimabue, it still will not be freed from the Byzantine influence very present in Rome in painting.

In the first years 1300, Rusuti follows Pietro Cavallini to Naples meadows of the court of Anjou for the decoration of the church Santa Maria Donnaregina . Today most of this work, which one had allotted to Cavallini, is recognized to him by the historians of Article.
