Filippa Duci

Filippa Duci (1520 in Italy before October 1586 in Touraine), girl of Gian Antonio Duci, is a Piémontaise courtesan of the town of Moncalieri, mistress of the Dolphin Henri future king of France Henri II.

At the time of the campaigns of Italy, the Henri Dolphin, spends a few nights during the year 1537 at a rider, brother of Filippa. As of their first meeting, the king allures it. It will give him a girl, Diane de France, which is born with Paris in 1538.

This birth is capital for the dolphin (future Henri II), because it has proven that the king is not sterile, while at the same time married for five years with Catherine de Médicis, her marriage did not give of heir to the throne.

François Ier grants to the Italian young person the sum of 400 pounds tournaments per annum on the Ordinary one of Touraine in 1541, all its life durant.
Its name is francized in Philippa Desducs.
She marries shortly after an Italian gentleman, Jean Bernardin of Saint Severin, gentleman of the room of the roi.
At the time of the legitimation of his daughter, one says it lady of Bléré in Touraine.
In 1582, it is lady-in-waiting of the queen Catherine de Médicis.

His/her daughter, Diane de France, is raised by Diane of Poitiers which gives him a very pointed education: she speaks Spanish, Italian Latin and plays several musical instruments.

Filippa Ducci dies before October 1586 close to Tours.
