Comment
The adaptation of this novel, literary object par excellence since concerning the writing essentially, in the content as in the form, was a challenge raised with a certain success by Michel Deville. The intrigue sufficiently strong and is varied to justify a treatment scenaristic but the setting in scene knew to find its own brands to deserve the term of adaptation of the original idea, in particular by the decorations, the direction of actor or the recourse on several occasions to the subjective Caméra.
