Figurehead

A Figurehead is a figure which is with the Proue, under the bowsprit of a Navire.

This figure is often an human being or an animal (in its entirety or tiny room to the bust even only with the head) often evoking the name of the ship.

It is also a metaphor to nominate a proposed person.

Historical use

Ancient Greece

In the legend of Greek mythology Jason and the Argonautes, the figurehead is a statue of Héra which advises the adventurers vis-a-vis certain tests.

The Ophthalmoi S are elements of old ships placed in Proue and symbolizing eyes of gods or goddesses, placed to carry chance.
