Figueres

Figueres (in Castilian Figueras ) is a city located in north is Spain, in Catalogne.

It is the capital of the comarque of the Alt Empordà in the Province of Gérone (Girona). Figueres is with 39 meters above the sea level and not far from the the Pyrenees and the French border (the Eastern Pyrenees). The city counted 33.157 inhabitants in 1996.

Figueres is the birthplace of El Salvador Dalí and shelters the Teatre-Museu Gala El Salvador Dalí, a museum designed by Dalí itself.
