Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo is a municipality (in Portuguese: concelho or município ) of the Portugal, located in the District of Guarda and the area Centers.

Geography

Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo is bordering:

in north, of Freixo de Espada with Cinta,
in the east, of the Spain,
in the south, of Almeida,
in south-west and the west, of Pinhel,
in the North-West, of Villa Nova de Foz Côa.

History

The municipality received its charter - foral , in portugais - in 1209. Until 1836, the chief town of the municipality was fixed at Castelo Rodrigo.
