Fig of Solliès

The Figue of Solliès is a Cultivar of Figue originating in the basin of Solliès in the North-East of Toulon (Var).

Name of controlled origin

The variety was recognized like Appellation of controlled origin by decree of the June 28th 2006 (Official journal of June 30th, 2006) under the denomination " Fig of Solliès ". As from the publication of this decree, only the figs recognized in name can refer to the geographical mention " Solliès". It is about a fresh fig, black variety Bourjassote exclusively produced on the territory of the following communes of the department of the Var:

Description

The figs of Solliès are in the shape of crushed water drop, of color violet to black ribbed. They are dense, firm and flexible. The Réceptacle is fine, green pale, pulp is fleshy, color jam of strawberry to many fine and beige seeds. The nose is elegant, not very intense with vegetable and fruity notes of Pastèque, white melon, strawberry and others red Fruits. The mouth is full with acidulated and sweetened characteristic balance, crunching then melting, with the intense plants, fruity Arôme S and with floral notes.

The figs of a diameter generally equal to or higher than 40 millimetres are collected from August 15th to November 15th.
