The fifth district of the Sarthe is delimited by the electoral Découpage of the law n°86-1197 of the November 24th 1986 , it gathers the following administrative divisions:

- Canton of Fresnaye-on-Chédouet
- Canton of Mamers
- Canton of the Mans-North-Countryside
- Canton of the Mans-North-City
- Canton of Maroilles cheese-the-Braults
- Canton of Montmirail
- Canton of Tuffé
- Canton of Vibraye.
According to the general Census of the population in 1999, carried out by the National institute of the Statistics and Economic studies (INSEE), the total population of this district is estimated at 110771 habitants, .
