Fiesta Bowl
The Fiesta Bowl is a university match of American football being held since 1971. It took place with Tempe (Arizona) with the Sun Devil Stadium of 1971 with 2006. From 2007, Fiesta Bowl will off be held with Glendale (Arizona) with the University Phoenix Stadium.
History
The fiesta Bowl was initiated by the Western Athletic Conference in order to support the champion of this conference, been sulky until there by the organizers of the other large bowls. In 1978, Arizona State leaves the Western to join the Pacific Ten Conference. This defection puts a term at the automatic qualification of the champion of the Western in Fiesta Bowl.In 1987, Miami and PEN State agree to clash for the national title in Fiesta Bowl. These two formations were then independent and the other large bowls privileged the champions of the conferences then. This match of 1987 carried out the audience tele record of university American football. Two years later, Notre Dame and West Virginia also clash in Fiesta Bowl for the national title. After these two matches references, Fiesta Bowl is promoted among the four bowls major.
In 1999 and 2003 Fiesta Bowl acted as national final.
