Fieschi

The Fieschi (or Fiesque ) are a famous family of Genoa which goes back to the first times of the Moyen-âge. It had initially in full sovereignty and as county the town of Lavagna, located at the east of Genoa, but it yielded it to this republic in 1198, and accepted in exchange the right of middle-class and nobility.

Fieschi had many Fief S in the Ligurie, the Piedmont, the Lombardy, the Ombrie, and even in the kingdom of Naples. They gave to the Church two Pape S (Innocent IV and Adrien V), a great number of cardinals, patriarchs, bishops and archbishops.

One counts among them several noble St-Empire, a Marshal of France under Louis IX, several generals, four admirals. __TOC
